HTU CELEBRATES 19 RETIREES IN COLOURFUL SEND-OFF CEREMONY

In a moving celebration of service and legacy, the University on Wednesday, 12th November 2025, honoured 19 retiring faculty and staff, who have completed their service in the 2024/2025 academic year, with a colourful send-off ceremony at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium Basement.

The event, held in recognition of their dedicated contributions to the institution, brought together University Management, colleagues, family, and friends in a night filled with music, memories, and heartfelt tributes.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga commended the retirees for their unwavering commitment and contributions to the growth of HTU.

“It is a pleasure to celebrate our retirees who have worked tirelessly in the university and contributed to its growth. The history of this institution cannot be written without your contributions, and that is why we are celebrating you tonight. Retirement is not a period of sadness but a peaceful season to reflect and celebrate,” he said.

He further encouraged them to take good care of their health and manage their pension benefits wisely, assuring them that their End-of-Service Benefits (ESB) would be honoured in due course.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Prof. Elizabeth Dzigbordi Obinnim, immediate past Dean of Students Affairs, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the University Management for the honour accorded them.

She described the gesture as a reflection of HTU’s enduring culture of gratitude and respect, and pledged that the retirees would continue to serve as proud ambassadors of the institution.

The retirees took turns to share fond memories of their time at HTU, offering words of encouragement to staff in active service to remain committed and uphold the values of the University.

The ceremony was climaxed with the presentation of citations to all retirees, with four receiving special recognitions for their exceptional contributions to the University’s development. The University Choir provided soul-lifting music, as its presence added a touch of solemnity and joy to the occasion.

In attendance were the Registrar, Dr. Christopher Amehoe; Director of Finance, Mr. Augustine Kwame Owusu; Ag. Director of Internal Audit, Dr. Frank Klu, as well as Deans, Directors, and Heads of Department.
