In a ceremony filled with anticipation and renewed confidence, Ho Technical University (HTU) has officially sworn in the 31st Student Representative Council (SRC) executives for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The event, held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium, followed a re-run of elections for the positions of President and Financial Secretary, after irregularities in the previous polls led to an Academic Board directive for a fresh contest.
Supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the elections were conducted on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, 2025. At the close of the polls, Ms. Magdalene Aduako, a Level 400 B.Tech Civil Engineering student, emerged as SRC President, while Ms. Hilda Akaba, a level 300 HND Accountancy student, was elected Financial Secretary.

They were sworn in alongside Vice President Elisha Kashia, General Secretary Christine Amewu, and Organizing Secretary Josiah King Fiazorli by the University’s Legal Officer, Ms. Dorothy Akortsu.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor commended the University community for their cooperation and emphasized the significance of HTU electing its second female SRC President, a testament to the institution’s dedication to leadership diversity.

He urged the new executives to swiftly constitute their committees and parliament in collaboration with the Dean of Students’ Affairs to ensure a smooth transition.
On her part, the new SRC President, Magdalene Aduako acknowledged the inspiration of her predecessor and pledged to work closely with students to deliver on her administration’s commitments. She reiterated her stance on inclusive leadership, reaffirming that gender is never a limitation to progress.

With a packed audience of Management Members and students cheering on the new leaders, the ceremony underscored the renewed optimism surrounding the 31st SRC administration.
