DEPT. OF MATHS & STATISTICS COLLABORATES WITH GSS TO ENHANCE DATA ANALYSIS SKILLS

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the Faculty of Applied Science & Technology (FAST) has collaborated with the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to host a two-day capacity-building workshop for staff and students.

The workshop, held on January 15-16, 2025, aimed to enhance participants’ skills in accessing and utilizing data from the GSS StatsBank.

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Victor Owusu Boateng, a senior statistician from the GSS. He took participants through how to access data, customize extracted data, and locate detailed information.

While demonstrating a keen interest in learning, participants asked meaningful questions and engaged in group presentations to showcase their understanding.

Dr. Worlanyo Saviour Akuamoah, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, emphasized the significance of the partnership, noting that it equips faculty and students with the tools needed to remain relevant in a data-driven world.

Prof. Emmanuel Letsyo, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting academic excellence through initiatives that build capacity and strengthen ties with industry stakeholders.

The workshop was hailed as an enlightening and empowering experience, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills in data analysis and utilization.
