A WEEK-LONG ORIENTATION BEGINS FOR 2024/25 FRESH STUDENTS

The University has commenced a week-long orientation programme for fresh students of the 2024/2025 academic year.

Being held at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium, the programme aims to facilitate a seamless transition into university life.

Organised by the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs and the Director of Academic Affairs, the session familiarises fresh students with the campus, academic programmes, and university policies.

Prof. Elizabeth Obinnim, Dean of Students’ Affairs, welcomed the students on behalf of the Management, highlighting HTU’s commitment to personal development, critical thinking, and career preparation. She emphasized the importance of academic excellence, urging students to take advantage of the university’s resources and support services to achieve their full potential. Prof. Obinnim also encouraged students to engage in extracurricular activities, participate in student organizations, and develop their leadership skills.

Other speakers included Rev. Fr. Sylvester Agbezuge, University Chaplain, who spoke on the rules governing religious activities on campus; Dr. Edem Kodzo Honu, Director of General Administration and Legal Services, who touched on university policies and regulations; Mr. Zakaria Issifu, Head of Security, who discussed campus security and safety measures; and Mrs. Florence Emefa Agra, Hall Warden of Acolatse Hall, who addressed student life, accommodation, and welfare services.

Additionally, Prof. Edem Azila-Gbettor, Dean of HTU Business School, spoke on academic progression, guiding students on how to navigate their academic journey and achieve their academic goals. Mr. Kwame Owusu, Director of Finance, also addressed the gathering, outlining the financial obligations of students and providing guidance on payment procedures and financial planning.

The programme, which will run until Friday, January 17, 2025, will feature interactive sessions, presentations, and open forums to equip fresh students with essential information and guidance for a successful academic journey.
