Ho Technical University and StartUpAfrica have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at providing mentorship and coaching opportunities for students in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. The signing ceremony, held virtually on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, marked a significant step towards equipping students with the skills and knowledge required to become successful entrepreneurs.
The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, and the Chief Executive Officer of StartUpAfrica, Mr. Mon’gare Erastus in a ceremony witnessed by senior officials of both institutions.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the partnership will augment the University’s efforts to nurture entrepreneurial students, who provide innovative solutions to address unemployment issues in Ghana and across Africa. He noted that, through StartUpAfrica’s support, students will gain valuable insights, practical experience, and guidance to embark on entrepreneurial ventures once they graduate.
Mr. Mon’gare, on his part, was optimistic about the positive impact the collaboration will have on students and the larger community. He noted that, by nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, it will contribute significantly to the economic development of the society and empower young people to create their own opportunities.
He also disclosed that his outfit will work with the University to establish the StartUpAfrica Innovation Centre to provide entrepreneurial coaching and mentorship to other young people across Ghana.
