The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, Hon. Prosper Pi-Bansa has on Monday, October 26, 2020 presented sets of text books to the Ho Technical University (HTU).
At a brief ceremony in the F.O. Kwami Council Chamber, the MCE handed over to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, 20 Marketing and 47 Engineering books valued at an amount of GH¢14,750.00.
Mr. Pi-Bansah, who is also the Parliamentary Candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a brief remark, said the gesture was his ‘widow’s mite’ contribution towards enhancing research, teaching, and learning at the institution, which he was once a student and later a teacher in the 1990s.
‘I entered this school, which was then a Technical Institute in 1994 for a technician course and later came back to teach at the Agric Engineering Department,’ he recounted vividly, adding that, he has benefited a lot from the school, for which he has returned to show appreciation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Honyenuga, receiving the items, commended the MCE for remembering his root and had returned with such a donation.
He said, the kind gesture has given encouragement and hope to the University to reconnect with its own to come and support its development and progress.
‘HTU is open for collaboration and support with stakeholders in pursuit of our vision of being the best not just in Ghana but the whole world, producing high quality graduates for the advancement of our society,’ he stated. Prof. Honyenuga, thus thanked the MCE and wish him well in his endevours, adding ‘your kindness will not go unnoticed.’
On her part, Acting Librarian, Mrs Hannatu Kugblenu-Mahama said the donation was very timely, as it would enrich the library stock in readiness for the start of the 4-year direct Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree programmes at the University.
Accompanying the MCE were some Constituency Executives of the NPP including the Chairman, Mr. Richard Kuadekpo and Mr. Stephen Adigon, the Municipal Director of NADMO.
Also present was the Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Edward K. Ayimey, some other Management members of the University and Deans.
