HO TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY SIGNS MOU WITH THREE (3) IT COMPANIES

Three Information Technology (IT) firms namely Hacklab Foundation, LM Communications and Co Systems on Wednesday September 5, 2018 have signed memoranda of understanding with the Department of Computer Science of Ho Technical University with the aim of helping to equip the students of the department with the necessary skills for the job market.


The partnership seeks to bring the expertise of professionals in the IT industry to the classrooms and also help lecturers and students acquire extra knowledge and skills for better delivery of practical teaching and learning.


Managing Director of LM Communications, Luther Adzah; CEO of Co Systems- Femi Asamoah and CEO of Hacklab Foundations-Foster Awintiti Akugri signed on behalf of their respective companies while the Interim Vice Chancellor of the Ho Technical University Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi and the Interim Registrar Dr. Christopher Amehoe signed on behalf of the University.

In his remarks, Professor Sakyi commended the companies for accepting to partner with the Department to help bridge the academia- industry gap. He was full of praise to the Head of Department Carlos Ankora for the initiative. The Interim Vice Chancellor used the opportunity to appeal to the companies to extend the agreement to other Departments of the University since IT now has some bearing on virtually every field of knowledge in today’s global village. He tasked all lecturers to make good use of the initiative so as to help them deliver to students with ease.


In his response, CEO of Hacklab Foundation, Foster Awintiti Akugri, said that the Foundation’s main purpose is to increase the employability of students in industries by equipping them with more knowledge in computer science and Information Technology. According to him, there is no problem with various curricular of the various universities, however, the approach used in the delivery of the curricular needs to be reviewed.
He hinted of an initiative soon to be launched by the Foundation which will help mentor students across the country and also help in curricular development in institutions of higher learning.

Co Systems specializes in software development and also provides solutions to IT problems of firms, institutions and others whiles LM Communications are into communication and security solutions.
