HTU ALUMNI PROFILE - Dr. Divine Tuinese Novieto 

Meet the 2004 overall best student award winner at Brunel University, West London, UK. He is a Building Services Engineering Specialist.

Dr. Divine Tuinese Novieto is an alumnus of Ho Technical University – HTU (formerly Ho Polytechnic). He graduated in 1999 with HND Building Technology. Before coming to HTU, Dr. Novieto attended Akatsi Sec. Tech. Sch. at Akatsi for his (SSSCE). He became a staff of Ho Technical University - HTU as an Assistant Instructor in 2001 after his National Service.

In 2004, he won a scholarship to pursue his Master Degree studies at Brunel University - West London UK. He studied MSc Building Services Engineering and completed successfully with Distinction and wining the best Student award.

Dr Novieto returned to Ghana and was appointed the Head of Department (Ag.) for the then Building and Civil Engineering Department. After two years of dedicated service to HTU, he enrolled on his PhD studies at the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development – DE Montfort University, Leicester UK in 2008. As a PhD student, Dr. Novieto participated in and was one of the winners of the Annual PhD Students poster competition, and subsequently represented his school at the regional event. Dr Novieto graduated in 2013 with Doctor of Philosophy in Building Technology. He returned to Ghana and in 2016 and became the Dean of International Programmes at Ho Technical University - HTU.

He subsequently became the Alumni President (2016 – 2020). Alumni President, Dr. Novieto served as the Alumni Representative on the Governing Council of the University from 2016 to 2020, and also, as the Head of Department for Building Technology (2019 to date),

Dr. Divine Novieto is a Building Services Engineering specialist with an interest in sustainable energy and their applications in the built environment, and recently conducted a field study on hydrogen gas technologies application in Ghana. Dr Novieto was also part of a research team that worked on; Biomass fuel at the Nexus: policy lessons from bottom-up perspectives in urban Ghana an ESRC funded research project and in the experimental; computational and environmental impact study of a solar powered hydrogen production system for domestic cooking applications in developing economies with Professor Kolokotroni of Brunel University.

Dr. Divine Novieto’s other research interests includes; energy efficiency, safety in the Built environment, thermal comfort, and renewable energy. He refers to himself as an Academic, Researcher, Motivational Speaker and Writer.

Ho Technical University, the Alumni Relations Office and the HTU Alumni Association is proud of Dr. Divine Novieto and other cherished alumni of the University who are doing great in their respective fields of work.
