XMAS MESSAGE FROM THE INTERIM VICE CHANCELLOR TO STAFF OF HTU

As the year comes to a close, I write on behalf of the Governing Council and Executive Management of the Ho Technical University to wish you season's greetings and thank you all for your support throughout 2017. Whether you are a supporter, partner, opponent, indifferent, faultfinder, or spectator at one of our numerous academic and institutional transformative events, your involvement has been invaluable to us.

2017 saw Ho Technical University transform from a regional to an international tertiary educational institution collaborating with universities in Germany, South Africa, China, United States of America, Benin, Togo and La Côte d’Ivoire and many others. The University climaxed the 2017 academic year by holding the 3rd International Conference on Sanitation, Food Hygiene and Food Safety, the 2nd Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture and inducted the first batch of twenty three (23) Doctoral degree students in partnership with Central University of Technology, Bloemfontein, South Africa. Again, the University launched two (2) Skills Development Fund (SDF) projects for the University.

Next year is even more ambitious. The first quarter of 2018 will see us launch the Golden Jubilee Anniversary celebration and the Endowment Fund. As part of the activities of the celebration the University will launch its five years Strategic Plan, inaugurate some strategic academic events and host two international conferences with world-class tertiary education leaders, researchers and senior leaders from industry, governments and business sharing their opinions on how higher education institutions can evolve and work to succeed in the years to come. Though there are challenges with the ongoing conversion reform we are proud of our achievements so far, knowing that the reform is a process not an event.

Management will continue to give priority to human resource development in the coming year even at a faster rate than in 2017. I hope that you will be able to support us and contribute to the slow but progressive change agenda in 2018.

I look forward to meeting all of you over the coming year.

Best Xmas wishes.

Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi
Interim Vice Chancellor, Ho Technical University
