Maths Stats

Mathematics and Statistics have a wide range of applications in today’s world. The blend provides a strong base for many models used in understanding, evaluating and predicting/forecasting real-life issues.
The Department offers programmes in HND Statistics and DBS Statistics Option. Ultimately, a programme in statistics prepares one for a career in many fields – including Finance, Banking, and Actuarial Insurance.

Objectives

  • To provide training in the requisite skills, techniques and aptitude needed to carry out various statistical activities and programmes.
  • To prepare students with contemporary computer software application skills to handle data for making projections, modelling various relationships, and testing theories in a wide range of disciplines.
  • To expose students to practical industrial training activities relating to the work and profession of statisticians through specially designed attachment programmes.
